Grant Programs

Grant making at the Permanent Endowment is a thoughtful process.  Through careful assessment of community needs, understanding of existing programs, identification of gaps in service, and evaluation of nonprofit management, the Endowment works to provide the most effective support for local nonprofit organizations.  Our grant making priorities are guided not only by the knowledge of our Board but also by our donors’ charitable intentions.   We support organizations with a well-planned approach to issues and needs, a demonstrated base of support, capable leadership and the involvement of individuals with the skills necessary to carry out the work.

The Endowment makes grants twice a year, in the spring and the fall.  The deadlines for submitting an application are posted on our website calendar page.  In general, grant requests are due in February and September.

In 2010, the Endowment awarded more than $105,000 in grants to 48 public and private nonprofit organizations for a broad range of projects.  Most of these grants supported programs providing services, with a more limited number funding capital expenses.
